What is Study Permit?
The Study Permit is a document that allows foreign nationals to Study at a Designated Learning Institutions (DLI) in Canada.
How to apply for a Study Permit?
Before you apply for a study permit, you need:-
- Valid Passport :- A Passport should be valid for the duration of study in Canada, as the validity of a Study Permit can not exceed the validity of the Passport. You may renew your Passport before you submit your application.
- English Proficiency :- If you choose to apply through Student Direct Stream (SDS), then you require a minimum of 6.0 bands in your IELTS with no band less than 6.0 for Graduate Degree and similarly for a Post Graduate degree you require to score 6.5 band with no band less than 6.0.
- An acceptance Letter/CAQ :- You must obtain an Acceptance Letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). You must apply for a certificate of acceptance (CAQ), if you want to study in Qubec, from the Government of Canada.
- Proof Of Financial Funds :- You must ensure that you have enough money for your entire period of study in Canada along with Rent, Food and other miscellaneous expenses.
- Photograph :- The Photograph must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders. The size of the head from chin to crown must be between 31 mm and 36 mm. The frame size must be at least 35 mm X 45 mm.
- Medical Certificate :- You must see a Doctor on the list of Panel Physicians.
- Biometrics :- Biometrics are usually required for foreign nationals that are applying for the visa to come to Canada. Biometrics include the foreign nationals’ fingerprints and Photograph. There is also fee associated with giving Biometrics. Their purpose is to allow Canadian officials to confirm a foreign traveller’s identify when they enter Canada.

Steps For Canada's Student Visa
- Decide Course you want to pursue and check Admission Requirements.
- English Proficiency Test i.e. IELTS /TOEFL /PTE
- Prepare and submit Admission Application to Canadian Institute.
- Receive admission Offer Letter from Canadian Institute.
- Prepare Finance and Income Related Documents
- Payment of Tuition fee and receive Tuition fees Payment Receipt.
- Undergo Medical Examination with registered Panel Doctor/Hospital.
